Inside Line Promotions - CORLEY, Texas (Oct. 15, 2013) - Blake Hahn scored another top five last Saturday at Timberline Speedway.
After starting on the pole in the first of two heat races, Hahn finished second on the tricky track.
"This time it was really, really dry," he said. "We started the (first) heat race and the car was pretty good, but (Zach) Pringle got us on the outside. On the second (heat race) the track was even worse. I couldn't get ahold of anything. Basically where you started was where you finished."
With a complete inversion for the second heat race, Hahn started eighth and placed sixth. He was scheduled to start the feature on the outside of the third row, but ended up taking the green flag starting fourth.
"The feature was the same," he said. "It was starting to (rubber down) toward the end of the A Feature. On the start (Shawn) Petersen got by me on the inside. Then we went for about eight laps. He drove it in a little too hard (on the restart) and I dove to the bottom and got underneath him. Johnny Herrera had a straightaway advantage for third place and I reeled him in about five laps. He'd make a mistake, but I'd make a mistake and I couldn't get by him."
Hahn ended with a fourth-place finish, which marked his 12th top five of the season.
He is slated to compete on Friday and Saturday at Devil's Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas, for the 40th annual Winter Nationals with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour. This will be his fifth race at the fast half-mile oval this season.
"The last time we were there was a Lone Star Region race and we did pretty decent," he said. "I've had quite a bit of laps. (The goal is) just make the A Feature with the national guys and finish solid. A top five would be awesome."
