SAPULPA, Okla. (July 14, 2015) Blake Hahn’s trip to the Pacific Northwest has been a fast learning experience with the Lucas Oil No. 52 taking a few hard hits during the 44th Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup, as well as the Fred Brownfield Memorial.
“It’s been a rough trip, but it happens sometimes,” commented Hahn. “Luckily I’ve had a lot of great help from my crew and other teams to help get me back together.”
Asked about events at the Skagit Speedway and Grays Harbor Raceway, Blake replied, “I just couldn’t seem to get rolling at Skagit. We were fast in Hot Laps, but lacked in the Heats so that put is in the “B” on Thursday. The following night was the same, but we found a setup that was really working in the “B”, but I ended up over Wayne Johnson’s tire and that junked the car. We brought down the spare on Saturday, but just couldn’t move forward.”
Moving to the Grays Harbor Raceway, Hahn again had trouble after contact from another driver sent him flipping into the wall on the start of his Heat Race.
“Luckily the hit wasn’t devastating and we were able to come back in the B-Main and ended up Hard Charger in the feature. We did the same setup on Saturday with the way the track was going, but it ended up better than we thought it was going to be so we struggled, but come to find out the car was bent in the rear clip from Friday’s flip so that made me feel a little better about the way the car was rolling.”
Looking forward to the tour’s return to Montana, Hahn will take on the Electric City Speedway this Friday, followed by the BMP Speedway on Saturday. Nearly winning at Great Falls in 2014, Hahn was chipper in his outlook, “Great Falls is where we led our first A-Feature, and nearly won. Billings is just a fun track. The promoters in Montana get it, and they know how to give us great tracks so I’m looking forward to getting back and seeing if we can better last year’s success. We need to get on a roll going in to Knoxville.”
Blake would like to thank the drivers, crew members, and fans who offered their help during the tour’s time in Washington. Special thanks goes out to Barry Martinez and the crew at Speedmart for helping get the No. 52 back on the track.
