Bryan Hulbert – OSBORN, Mo. (July 21, 2020) Continuing to work on the setup of the Sage Fruit, Co./Oil Fire Whiskey No. 52, Blake Hahn came up just shy of victory on Friday night at U.S. 36 Raceway, instead, settling for runner-up honors to Sam Hafertepe, Jr. before heading to Knoxville Raceway on Saturday.
"The car was great. A few times, I thought I was going to get Sam through turns one and two, but just couldn't get the run down the backstretch to make it work without crashing us both," said Blake.
Working on different setups over the past few races, Hahn said he felt a better balance in the car on Friday.
"I was pretty much able to run where I wanted. We've been struggling to get through the center lately, so we've been trying different things and Friday we had a really good balance overall. The only problem we had was running a little hot."
Making the drive to Knoxville Raceway on Saturday to get laps in before the My Place Hotels Knoxville 360 Nationals presented by Great Southern Bank, Blake came through the B-Feature to a 15th place finish.
"The car raced really well. Last to 15th in the Feature, and I feel like a few more laps, we could have made up even more, but we shouldn't have been that far back. That's on me because I messed up Qualifying. That's the one thing at Knoxville that you have to be good at, and that's the biggest thing I struggle with. Not anyone's fault by mine, I just need to get better if we're going to be successful."
Back at the famed half-mile this weekend, Hahn will again take on the 360 division.
