Bryan Hulbert – LAKE ODESSA, Mich. (May 11, 2021) In the hunt for his second win of the season, Blake Hahn had to settle for second place on Saturday night at I-96 Speedway with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network and Great Lakes Super Sprints.
Stalking Matt Covington in traffic throughout most of the A-Feature, Hahn shot low several times but found the line blocked. Working into the final two laps, Blake closed substantially on the No. 95 for the lead, but a quick slip through the cushion in turns three and four settled the debate on who was going to win.
“We were there; I just missed the line and just about flew off the track. Thankfully, when they watered earlier, they watered the backside of the embankment, so it gave me something to stick and be able to save the car from going over. If it wasn’t for that, I was going for a ride,” commented Hahn. “I have to give a nod to the track and GLSS. Everyone was great to work with, and the track was about as perfect as you could get for us to race on.”
Looking ahead to this weekend, Hahn will take on the ultra-high-banked Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, Tenn., on Saturday, May 15. Blake’s debut at the four-tenths mile oval, the entire team is excited to take on the Tennessee oval.
“We’ve had success in Tennessee, so we’re looking forward to this weekend. The way they talk about this place, and the videos I’ve watched, it seems like it races really well for being so big.”
Basing in Lima, Ohio, for the week, the Hahn Racing Team would like to thank Phil Gressman and Marshall Campbell for giving the team a place to park and work on the car.
